Cardiovascular disease (CVD) accounts for 25% of all deaths in the UK and kills more than 150,000 individuals every year.
The main forms of CVD are coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke. CHD is one of the UK’s leading causes of death and is responsible for more than 66,000 deaths annually. Stroke is the third biggest killer in the UK and causes more than 36,000 deaths annually.(1).
