Oats (Avena sativa) have been cultivated for over two thousand years. An annual crop, they have a low requirement for summer heat, tolerate rain quite well and are now grown throughout the world (1).
The ‘power’ of oats has been recognised for centuries and put to use in traditional or folk medicine for the treatment of a number of common ailments. Today, we have the benefit of countless studies that highlight the beneficial effects of oats on human health (1).
