OATLY
SWEDISH
AND
INTERDEPENDENT
SINCE 1994
We're the world's first oat drink company, here to make it easy for people to eat better and live healthier lives without recklessly taxing the planet's resources in the process.
We've been saying the above line for years, which makes sense since it's our mission statement. Born in Sweden and operating globally, we started with our original unflavoured and fortified oat drink, for humans seeking to replace products processed from cows in their cooking, baking, coffee, drinks, smoothies, or whatever, without compromising on taste or nutritional value.
Since then, we’ve gone on to make all kinds of amazing products. Not just for the nearly 65% of people in the world who have some form of or the many who choose to keep their eating and drinking as animal-free as possible, but for everyone who wants to eat and drink as healthy and with as low environmental impact as possible. We can't really know.
One thing we do know is that the current food system is responsible for one-third of with about 50-60% of that coming from the Yet, it is estimated that livestock only provides 17% of global calories and about This makes the swap from cow-based to oat-based dairy a pretty attractive proposition, if you ask us.
To make the transition from dairy to plant-based easy, we put a lot of effort into creating top-quality products that taste great, keep many of the properties from solid oats and can be included as part of a healthy, balanced diet. For us, this transition is the smartest way to reduce the negative impact the food system has on the planet and people, because everything is interdependent.
You can't care about the planet without thinking about the climate, and you can’t separate the climate from nature. If nature is your thing, you must include people. And if you care about people, nutrition is key, and great taste makes it easier for people to eat better and live healthier lives without recklessly taxing the planet's resources in the process. Which subtly brought us back to the mission statement that started this oat business in the first place.
