Oatmilk Hot Cocoa

We’ve made you the perfect hot cocoa! You just have to do the ‘hot’ part if you don’t mind. It’s a delicious chocolatey treat ready to warm you up in the most charmingly cozy way known to humankind.

NOTE: Webpages can’t tell if it’s December or June, so this one basically hangs out all year, hoping you’ll show up around the time snow feels possible, words like “cheer” and “paid time off” are top of mind, and a cup of hot cocoa sounds like the best idea ever. If that’s today, then perfect. If not, please check out our less adorably seasonal chocolate oatmilk here. You’ll love that one too.

What’s amazing

Did you know the word “mmm” was invented by someone sipping hot cocoa possibly? How nice that ours is not only seriously delicious, it skips the cow altogether. And maybe best of all, it’s already made. Just grab the carton, pour yourself a cup (the holiday-themed one your mom got you that’s in the back of the cupboard works) and heat it up whenever you feel like a chocolatey treat. This one is certified non-GMO and glyphosate-residue-free, and it has calcium and vitamins A, D, B12). Pretty sure you can’t think of anything cozier.

What might seem less amazing

If you check the ingredients list you’ll find we have added some sugar to this product. We’ve also added natural flavors for the simple reason that they make this product taste great.

More about this product

  • Where can I find grocery stores near me that carry Oatly?

We made the Oatfinder so that you can be directed with GPS accuracy to the nearest forward-thinking grocery stores, restaurants and cafes that carry Oatly products. While the Oatfinder is really popular and talented, it can’t tell you whether a location has Oatly products in stock at this very moment, so we recommend calling ahead to make sure there will be cartons of oatmilk or frozen dessert, or a perfectly foamed oat latte waiting for you when you arrive. Enjoy.

  • What's your packaging made from? Is it recyclable? Compostable?

Our flat-topped oatmilk packages are made of paperboard, some plastic, and a small amount of aluminium. The gable top Chilled Oatmilk packages are made with paperboard and some plastic. Technically, most of our packaging is recyclable, but it depends on the sorting, collection, and recycling infrastructure in place in the country/region you're in. They are not compostable.

  • Where does the sugar in your oatmilk come from?

The sugar in our unflavored oatmilk comes from the oat. When making the oat base used for all our products, we add enzymes that break the oat starch down into smaller components, like maltose (aka malt sugar), which sweetens our products. Read more.

  • Why did you use rapeseed oil?

We’re always trying to find a balance between sustainability, taste and nutritional health. Oatly has used canola oil (also called rapeseed oil in Scandinavia) in our products for many years, because we believe it is the plant-based oil that best enables us to deliver on those values. In our US operations, we use only non-GMO canola oil that is expeller-pressed with zero hexane involved in the process. In comparison to other plant-based oils, non-GMO canola/rapeseed oil also contains relatively less saturated fat and has a neutral taste profile that lets the flavor of our oats shine.

  • How do you calculate the CO2e numbers on your products?

We gather data on greenhouse gas emissions from grower to grocer and put it through a platform called CarbonCloud that uses 20 years of research in the food-system field to crunch the numbers and get the final carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) number. When the counting and analyzing are done, an impartial verifier professional double-checks the calculations. Basically, our numbers are scrutinized by people who really know what they’re doing.
