Pinned Questions

Oat drink? Is that even a thing?

It is! And more specifically, it’s a 100% plant-based drink that can be used in the same way as cow's milk (if you don’t know how to use cow´s milk, ask a friend of a friend or something). Have it for breakfast together with cereal or porridge, pour it in your coffee, use it when making pancakes or a smoothie or other food stuff in your kitchen, or just drink it from a glass (or directly from the package if you’re home alone).

Our products

What’s the difference between the Barista Edition and regular oat drinks?

Short version: Our Barista Edition is specially formulated to be extra foamy and creamy — making it the top-notch choice for an oat cappuccino (or latte or macchiato or whatever coffee you prefer).

The longer story is our Barista Edition, unlike our ambient oat drink, contains an acidifying ingredient that balances out the low pH of coffee and ensures that the oat drink doesn't curdle in hot drinks. The Barista Edition also has a slightly higher fat content than our regular ambient oat drink.

To make things even more confusing, we also offer our regular oat drink in a chilled format. Or even two chilled formats, each with a different fat percentage. Just like the Barista Edition, they contain an acidifying agent to ensure that they have the same functional properties as cow's milk, which makes them great in coffee, for example. Still, they don't have that same extra creaminess and foaminess as the Barista Edition.

PS. All our oat drinks have a lot in common: the enrichment, the creamy consistency and the fact that they all can be used in cooking or baking — if you don’t prefer drinking them as they are, of course!

Are your products vegan?

Yes! All Oatly products are 100% plant-based (a.k.a. 100% vegan). No exceptions whatsoever.

Allergens & Specifications

What about allergens such as gluten, soy and nuts?

Let’s start with the easiest one: All our products are totally free of soy.

When it comes to gluten, it depends on where you live. In the US, our products are made from certified gluten-free oats and (consequently) labelled as gluten-free. In Europe and Asia, however, our products contain a small amount of gluten (less than 100ppm mg/kg product to be specific). So although that's not much gluten at all - they cannot, of course, be classified as completely gluten-free.

Nuts, then? Well, we don’t use nuts as an ingredient in any of our factories other than in the production facility where our ice-cream is produced (an obvious thing since it's where our Salty Caramel Hazelnut is produced), and we have strict procedures in place with our suppliers to minimize the risk of nuts being present in any of our other products. In other words, our products are nut-free, unless they are called “Hazelnut-something.”

Are your products organic?

Not all of them. Actually, most of them are not. But we do have organic versions of some of our most popular products, such as our oat drinks and cooking creams. And concerning why we don’t offer more organic products? Well, there are different reasons — one being that most markets don’t allow enrichment of organic products.
